Laugh Basement, our weekly stand-up comedy showcase hosted by Hewitt Pagenstecher and DJ Bholt, is back with headliner Shain Brenden!
Shain is a comedian, writer and actor originally from Millington, Tennessee. His album “Either Way, Pretty Funny” debuted at #2 on iTunes from Blonde Medicine Records.
He’s been featured on the wildly popular Don’t Tell Comedy stand-up series and can be heard regularly on Netflix is a Joke radio on Sirius XM. While making the rounds in comedy festivals like High Plains, 10,000 Laughs, Laughing Skull, San Francisco Sketchfest and Limestone Comedy Fest, Shain was also crowned Portland’s Funniest Person in 2022 at Helium Comedy Club.

The KNA has lined up a fine bill of local musicians and tonight's proceeds go to the Association's general fund, which is used to promote neighborhood activities and nourish our community. We're stoked to have bluegrass wonders, Band of Comerados, holding down our February Tuesday residency! From their inception around campfire jams, Band of Comerados has come a long way. Earning their stripes at dive bars, breweries, block parties, and house concerts in their hometown of Portland, Oregon, the band began to get a foothold in some of the city’s finest venues, like Laurelthirst, White Eagle, Goodfoot, Aladdin Theatre, Wonder Ballroom, Mississippi Studios and more. Expanding their fanbase, they traveled up and down the West Coast from Southern California to Northern Washington, and east through Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. Festival appearances include What the Festival!?, Beltane Music Festival, 4 Peaks Music Festival, Northwest String Summit, Gem & Jam, Homegrown Gorge and others. $5

Seattle based guitarist Andy Coe (ACB, Skerik Band, McTuff) and drummer D'Vonne Lewis (Digable Planets, McTuff, Industrial Revelation) join forces with Portland keyboardist Galen Clark (Outer Orbit, Trio Subtonic, Sleater-Kinney) for a blend of pocket heavy organ trio funk and psychedelic mind bending groove music. The resulting sound fuses high energy synth bass, heavy funk and experimental electronic-tinged jazz. $15

Greaterkind features Charlie Brown III, Peter Knudsen, Cory Limuaco and Ian "Yuck" Lindsay. While cutting their teeth on stage with local guests and national heavies the group has held it down. Past collaborators include MonoNeon, Ghost Note, Brian Jackson, Amine, The Hamiltones, Jarrod Lawson, Christian Scott, among others. Bodhi Mojo is a psychedelic, five-piece jam band rooted in the good feels. Characterized by mind-bending jams and heartfelt songwriting, they never play the same show twice and leave you yearning for more. The Band formed in 2019, and made a splash on the PNW music scene. Focusing on DIY festivals/shows, Bodhi quickly grew a wide following throughout the Pacific Northwest. The latest pursuits include releasing a full length album 'Midnight Dojo' in July and hosting their own Mojo Family Festival. There's so much to take in from this group as they continue to rise up in the scene. $15 ADV

Super Secret Band is a high-energy collective who seamlessly flow from rock to dark jazz, funk to ambient exploration with plenty of room for group improvisation and always with an eye (and ear) for the dance floor. $10
Family Mystic is a four piece vocal ensemble surfing the ebb & flows of present day Portland, redefining what creating music from the deep realms of the heart can truly be. Vulnerable, poignant, dynamic, direct and multidimensional. Merging elements of classic funk/soul , 60s/70s psychedelia, a splash of progressive jazz fusion and tight vocal arrangements to answer a frequent question. "What genre is this?" We like to call it feel good music-- Bringing people of all ages together in unity ! n 2016 Jeff Chilton packed his trombone and guitar onto an Amtrak train out of Ithaca, NY to move West in search of a home and a band. Three years later Jay Si Proof was born from the funky jazz soaked dirt of PDX, bringing their “silly and euphoric vibe” (Portland Mercury) up and down the West Coast. Described as "earth jazz alchemists" by Vortex Magazine, the band is a true DIY project with 2 self produced EPs, an album, and a performance history including the Skyview Jazz Festival, McMenamin’s UFO Festival, Mojo Family Fest, the Bend Falls Fest, and the Corvallis Falls Fest. $15
Spunj is a high energy, multi-genre four-piece based out of Eugene, Oregon. Using their diverse musical backgrounds and tastes, Spunj believes in making their live shows not just a musical performance, but an experience. The band incorporates classic songwriting with sections of improvisation to seamlessly weave from genre to genre while keeping the energy high and always danceable. Since 2019, the band has toured the Pacific Northwest relentlessly growing from playing bars and college parties to playing established and respectable venues and festivals and opening for major jam acts such as Spafford, Eggy, Twiddle, Lespecial, Cycles, and Yak Attack. $12
Brown Stallion is a Ween tribute band out of Portland and Eugene, Oregon. Made up of seasoned musicians that are truly Ween fans, their shows draw from the full catalogue of Ween songs that are imbued with the spirit of the Boognish. The band pays great attention to detail in recreating the songs, drawing heavily on Ween’s live performances and anchored by Deaner inspired guitar chops. Brown Stallion puts on a high energy and unrelenting show that reflects the depth of their love of all things brown. $10

The Heaters are a soul, R&B and funk band from the Bay Area, California. They have deep grooves, tight three-part harmonies, and songs that will uplift your spirit. The Heeters is comprised of Tom Quell (vocals/guitar), drummer Sheldon Alexander and a couple members of TheCalifornia Honeydrops (Lorenzo Loera on keys and Miles Blackwell on bass). Resident goodfoot artist /curator (Since 2001), Jason Brown brings his current show consisting of over a 100 new works, along with collaborations with  Amelia Opie, Brett Bowers, Christopher Creath, Diego Corral, EMEK, Joel Barber, Josh Burd, Mary Undercoffer-Gallop, Mathew Hopkins, Matt Schlosky, Mayfair, Nic Vic, Todd Hinchman, Tony Morgan and Zak Gere.  There will also be 100 older paintings and prints of previously exhibited works-- a floor to ceiling art extravaganza. DJ Welly Well and tODD will be selecting the music for the night. Free!
In a world that becomes more and more robotic  everyday there is one cure for the ailment that has mostly gone forgotten, “ROBOKCHOY”!  Portland based Robokchoy brings a tastefully curated mix of organic originals and soulful instrumental jazz covers you’ve probably never heard on an elevator. Led by local shredder Evan Boller (“Boller Time”) on guitar, Robokchoy reformed in 2023 after about a ten year hiatus. Come see the full band with Nick Centonze on drums, Josh Friedman on bass, Nathan Carver Smith aka ‘Mr. Relish’ on saxophone, and Brill Ritter from Super Secret Band on keyboard.  Space Force, despite the name, has never actually been to space. Until December 19th that is…Clear the stage for a blastoff from your favorite jam-station to way beyond terrestrial orbit, and into the great unknown galaxies that have yet to even be dreamed of.Featuring members of Goodfoot favorites Lost Ox, Space Force is sure to close the night out in style with a taste of funk, jam, psychedelia, jazz, americana, and progressive rock!   $10
