    Jujuba plays a funky, danceable style of Nigerian Afrobeat and Juju music. The strength of the 10-piece revolves around its energetic cohesion between percussion, rhythm and horn sections. The band features Nojeem Lasisi from Igbo Ora, Oyo State, in Nigeria. He ranks among the world’s elite talking drum players. Nojeem was given his first drum at age four by his father, also a master drummer, who handed down to Nojeem its powerful language. As a member of Nigerian superstar King Sunny Ade's group, the African Beats, Nojeem toured the world and appears on numerous recordings with King Sunny, including "Seven Degrees North" and "Odu”.     Laugh Basement, our weekly stand-up comedy showcase hosted by Hewitt Pagenstecher and DJ Bholt, is back with a killer lineup including headliner Imani Denae! Imani is a comedian from Portland whose sharp observations and fearless social commentary have earned praise from Vulture and Katt Williams. She’s a regular performer across the Pacific Northwest, has opened for Roy Wood Jr., Nicole Byer, Josh Johnson and Maria Bamford, and was a finalist in the Don’t Tell Comedy Competition. Monday’s show also features comedians Julia Corral, Robert Delegato, Reese Hendrik and Katie Nguyen! $10

    Our May Tuesday residency is a dance floor burning good time-- perfect for these warming Spring eves! Led by bassist Brett McConnell since 2017, Brett's House Party features a unique sound of electronic drums, multiple synths, two basses, lap steel guitar, and the inimitable Aniana on vocals. BHP’s live show emulates a house DJ’s sets with nonstop music and minimal tempo variations. Every set is completely different, yet always relentless. And the most impressive part? It's 100% improvised! Don't miss out! $8

    For the final show in the monthly UNGULIT series, members of Yak Attack collaborate with good friends and pillars of our Portland music scene hat contribute mightily to shows off the stage. Mitch Melheim has been a core member of the Yak family for years. He is a music afficionado, lighting designer, tour manager, marketing director, and for this show is performing on stage for a hybrid DJ/live show with members of Yak. Mitch brings his DJ chops, curation, and excellent musical sensibility to the chaos of improvised flow that embodies a Yak show. Expect a journey through psych, IDM, and all kinds of hybrid genres mashed up and stretched to the limit, with special guests from our wonderful community. $10

    Portland's Flying Caravan crafts whimsical soundscapes that drift through cloud castles and rivers of rainbows. Led by the ethereal vocals of Azzy Isabell, the band fuses psychedelic melodies, deep grooves, and celestial rhythms. Their songs are crafted from a rich blend of vibrato vocals fluttering alongside electric guitars, keys, bass, percussion, and drum kit swirling together within a dance of interplay. Flying Caravan’s second studio album was recently released at the end of 2025. Step aboard and let the music carry you. Tonight they are joined by The Marcelo Guitron Band (of Family Mystic fame)! $10

    Laugh Basement, our weekly stand-up comedy showcase hosted by Hewitt Pagenstecher and DJ Bholt, is back with headliner Trixie Toboot! Trixie spent 20 years as one of the featured front-line performers in the comedy favorite group The Hallelujah Chorus. Known for big laughs, audience sing-alongs and unforgettable stage energy, she recently returned to performing with appearances here at Laugh Basement, with standing ovations and amazing audience reactions. Now headlining on her own, Trixie brings sharp comedy, music, and fearless fun to the stage, while proudly recognizing songwriter Andi Otness for the original music that helped build the show’s legacy. Monday’s show also features comedians Ryan Danley, Milo Loza, Timothy Blackton, Jaren George, and special guests! $10
