We’re thrilled to be hosting an Umphrey’s McGee After Party with The Willie Waldman Project featuring UM guitarist Jake Cinninger. Willie Waldman (Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, Perry Farrell) has collaborated and toured with a list of hip hop, rock and jam legends too long to list here and possesses the requisite chops and versatility to shine in any genre. The band also features Kamasi Washington’s drummer, Tony Austin, and Fishbone bassist Norwood Fisher. Jake Cinninger is truly a rare breed. His musical virtuosity started at an almost unfathomable age, drumming prolifically by 3. He played more gigs by the age of 13 than many musicians have played in a lifetime. His musical knowledge runs deep, with his ability to play a dozen instruments only matched by his extensive mental index of tens of thousands of albums. With a highly trained ear, Jake can extract the best tone from virtually anything in proximity. The man can plug a tennis racket into a rock, and you can hear angels singing. In addition to Umphrey’s compositions, Jake has written and recorded hundreds of songs running the musical gamut, from ambient sleep lullabies to Norwegian death metal masterpieces. Nothing is off limits.

The band has committed to a two hour single set and will go late as they delve into deep grooves, expansive improv and raging peaks of music. It’s a show not to be missed in such intimate environs. The evening begins at 9pm with a meet and greet book signing for Dead Tourhead, a look back at ’80’s Grateful Dead tour written by Willie Waldman and author and skateboard legend Tom Nordwall. PDX’s jam-purveyors, Lost Ox, hit the stage at 10 pm for a 90 minute jamfest before turning the stage over to Jake and company. Do not miss this one!!!!! $22
