Block + Press
is a woodcut artist based in Milwaukie who explores the intersection of nature and mysticism through her work. Deeply inspired by the rhythms of tidal shifts, lunar cycles, and seasonal changes, she creates pieces that examine themes of death, flora, fauna, and the occult. By deliberately preserving the unique grain and texture of each piece of wood while introducing contrasting spray paint gradients, her work creates a compelling dialogue between the organic and the artificial. This juxtaposition is a reflection of the seen and unseen forces that add magic to our world.
Jessie Fox
the Portland based artist behind Whatif Creations. Jessie’s journey began during her time as a counselor for troubled teens where she used art as a way to build connections with her clients. Her playful hybrid animal sketches became a way to invite others into a space of curiouslity, where the rules don’t apply. Jessie founded Whatif Creations in 2013. Her products are featured in galleries and gift shops across the country. She has been a beloved fixture at the Portland Saturday Market for over a decade.
Josh Burd
As this exploration continues, a language has evolved. One mark dictates the next mark and a “call and response” begins. The rules are eventually established and the play begins and continues pushing against its own defined parameters. Joshua Burd, aka Burdxturd. Is an a tattoo artist and fine artist here in the lovely Portland, Oregon. He has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. At 22 he went to art school and got his degree in illustration, failed miserably at that, and throughout the years have done art shows at bars, cafes and independent galleries around Portland. At 30 he began his career as a tattoo artist. A career that gave him what he wanted: to draw everyday and make art for people of all backgrounds, shapes and sizes. These peices are basically a history of where I started and where I am today. He focus’s on cat tattoos, adventure time, and everything in between.
