Doors open at 6:30, Quiz starts at 7:30′ish Arrive early! While there’s always room for one more team, tables fill quickly. We play music and sometimes show movies before and after the quiz.
How it works:
Each week’s Quiz consists of four rounds with 10 questions per round, I generally throw in a bonus question in each round.
I pick one question each week as a ‘Stump the Staff’ pick, for a bonus point you guess whether or not the staff know the answer – no penalty if you guess incorrectly. The team with the best name also gets a bonus point. (Hint: My mom is not nearly as promiscuous as losers of Best Team Name think)
At the end of the four rounds teams exchange their answer sheets with another team and then I give the answers. Once you’ve scored a sheet I’ll collect all of them, award the Bonus point(s) and announce the winning teams. Prizes are given to the First, Second, Third and last place teams.
Prizes are awarded the night of but may be redeemed at any time;
they can be used upstairs if you so chose.
Round #1: General Trivia
These questions range from topics like history, geography, phobias, literature, pop culture, current events, to whatever caught my fancy that week.
Round #2: Movie Round
Questions about movies, and sometimes TV. I ask about directors; I give character names and you tell me who the actor was; I name the actor and you tell me the character; name the movie from its tag line; what a list of films have in common, etc. The open secret if you’ve ever been to one of my quizzes, I love bad movies.
Round #3: Bonus Round
I usually let the losing team pick the following week’s topic. I may tweak your choice a bit, or will simply veto a lame topic. There’s always a list of random topics you can pick from if you just can’t handle the pressure of picking a topic.
Sometimes I just decide to do a Picture Round, then you tell me the 10 people, places or things I’ve chosen for that week.
Round #4: Music Round
I’ve started to play clips of songs and ask for either the name of the song or the artist, sometimes the instrument. If I’m asking questions I try to mix up music genres, sometimes I ask questions about labels, instruments and some music theory.
The Rules:
I am always right. I will entertain respectfully presented challenges, and usually give you a point if I happened to be right in a wrong sort of way.
Teams are limited to six (6) people. If there are 8 of you then break into two teams, if there are seven of you bring more friends next time.
You cannot use cell phones or other electronic devices while playing. If you are caught cheating you will be made fun of and, you will break my heart because a puppy dies every time you cheat.
