The Goodfoot will have an art opening last Thursday Aug 31 from 5-11pm. The show will be up until Sept 25th. The artists this month are Klutch and Zach Egge.
Klutch, the mastermind behind the Vinyl Killers art project, this Oklahoma born punk revivalist creates stark multi-layered stencils and graffiti work on skateboards, found objects, murals and most famously - vinyl records. His clean spot-graffiti objects celebrate the glory of the punk days while exposing the splendor of true street art. His work has appeared across the country in galleries, skate shops, restaurants, benefits and magazines (appearing first in Thrasher in 1986), and his most recent development of the painted rooms of Hotel Des Arts in San Franciso.
As a native Portlander, Zach Egge is a natural street artist, combining photo-realistic images of a classical oil painter with the juxtaposed elements of graffiti and multi-layered stencil and collage. Egge’s emotionally charged and bright images are taken from popular icons, intermixing political and religious irony and an honest loathing of modern weaponry. Exhibiting mostly in Portland in the Everett Lofts, Berbati’s and the Goodfoot, Egge’s work has become a recognizable centerpiece in the scene. His next projects are focused outside of Portland, creating his true passion of public art installation - the replacement of destroyed street signs as re-painted iconography.
