Ahhhh, the 80’s! I was originally pretty stumped as to the theme of this show “social commentary”. I usually don’t paint with any real agenda other than my healthy doses of sarcasm and sick sense of humor. And then it happened… As I started on the skull for what became “They Live” I realized that was exactly what I was painting, my memories of a very cheesy film from 1988. The rest just kind of fell into place. The two pieces “You Need Meds” and “Mmmmm, Chicken” show my love of all things meat and barbecue. The final piece “Death From Above” is pretty typical of what I usually like to paint. I threw it in because I just like it! That’s that….Peace and Chicken Grease! John Wray
