kitska

Antlers, compound eyes, swanlike necks, and long sweeping hair are elements that often dominate the work of Ukrainian American artist Kitska. Originally from the East Coast she now calls Portland her home. Kitska's work is a reflection of what she sees in her subconscious, combined with the aesthetic influences of the Ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Byzantine iconography that surrounded her in her youth. Other major influences include Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, a pivotal figure in her life, and French painter Rosa Bonheur. New to the street art community Kitska has flourished artistically due to the unyielding support and kindness of her peers. She is forever humbled and grateful for the outpouring of love from this awe-inspiring community of artists.
