Gan Golan

Like me, my brother Gan grew up inside my father's art studio, exposed to the tools of the trade and idea of art as a daily practice. Devoted to drawing from a young age, he quickly mastered human anatomy and texture and went on to create elaborate worlds in pencil and ink from his imagination, drawing thousands of creatures and landscapes inspired by fantasy and science fiction. Gan has also lent his art skills to various social justice campaigns during two decades working as a community organizer and activist. In the 1980's he was involved in the anti-Apartheid international solidarity movement in Los Angeles, and since then helped design and build street theater puppets for anti-corporate globalization protests in the US and Mexico. In recent years Gan earned a masters degree from MIT before going into publishing as a political satirist, where his book became a NY Times bestseller. Together, my brother and I have collaborated on numerous rock posters as well. - Emek
