Fiona Bruce
Fiona Bruce and Miles Stegall are the co-founders and operators of Idiot or Genius, a collaborative effort in which both take turns fulfilling various roles: each exists as designer, printer, trendsetter, whip-cracker, servant, celebrated artist.
Fiona's early penchant for doodling and rub down type - in combination with her habit of hanging around with lowlifes in bars - obviously led to making street fliers. Her first effort, for an aging Canadian transvestite rapper fronting an outfit called 'Banji Strip Death,' was wheat pasted around lower Manhattan in early 1985.
With relatively little/sporadic formal training, the subsequent decades have nonetheless provided Ms. Bruce the opportunity to continue to add to her chops as a designer, an enthusiastic supporter of live music, and more recently (since 2002) as a manual screen printer - all culminating in her willingness to step forward and proudly claim her place as a relevant contributor to the contemporary world of poster art.
